While in high school, he had imagined himself in the classroom, nurturing young minds and other times, in the ward providing healthcare.
But it never, for once, crossed his mind that he would one day sit behind the microphone and act as a watchdog over duty bearers.
He, however, got into the media along the line and has carved a niche as one of the best journalists the Upper East Region has produced.
That is the story of Albert Sore, Regional Correspondent for Joy FM/JoyNews.
Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation following his recognition at the recently held Regional GJA Awards as the Best Journalist of the Year, Albert Sore described how he got into the media and became a journalist as an accident.
“I got into the media like most people by accident. Because before I had the opportunity to be on radio, it never crossed my mind. At the time – in 2007 – I was still at home after completing SHS, trying to get some of my grades right before I can proceed to the tertiary institution”.
He recalled that, while at home trying to better his WASSCE results after Senior High School, a friend hinted him about a vacancy at a radio the said friend was undertaking his industrial attachment and encouraged him to apply since he was eloquent in expressing himself.
He did and was subsequently engaged as a guest on a sports show but eventually became host of the show.
While at it, Albert took up extra duties including going on assignment to file reports and with the guidance of his superiors, cut his teeth on journalism.
Even at this point, he was still not certain about a career in journalism until one of his bosses advised him to consider going to a journalism school since he had shown great prospects in the field.
He adhered to the advice and after completing an undergraduate course in journalism, got engaged by one of the leading media outlets in the country and he has since been impacting lives positively his journalistic works.
