The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed heads of basic schools and second cycle institutions to accept lesson notes whether they are prepared manually or electronically.

There has been a disagreement between school heads and teachers over lesson notes preparations.

While the heads insist lesson notes must be handwritten, teachers argue electronic ones should be acceptable especially as at a time digitization has become the order of the day.

In a bid to resolve the impasse, the GES has instructed that lesson notes prepared manually or electronically in soft or hardcopy should be accepted.

A letter dated January 17 and signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assessment at GES Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh said, “Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has become aware of some misunderstanding between heads and their teachers in some schools in respect of lesson notes preparations”.

“Regional Directors are to bring to the attention of District/Municipal/Metropolitan Directors of Education to ensure that all heads of schools (Basic and Second Cycle) accept both handwritten and electronically prepared lesson notes in both printed and email forms”.
