LAWYER CHARLES BAWA DUA WITH BECE CANDIDATES

The Member of Parliament for Bongo in the Upper East Region, Lawyer Charles Bawa Dua, has presented mathematical sets to all 2,145 candidates in the constituency.

According to the MP, this is intended to boost the morale of the candidates and remind them that all other stakeholders are interested in seeing them excel at this level to progress to the next stage.

Engaging some candidates, who converged at the Salibiga Junior High School, the MP urged the candidates to work hard, given the recent population dynamics, which make everything competitive, including the quest to have access to good schools, jobs, and other opportunities.

“Let me say that a great pleasure to be here to present 2,150 mathematical sets to all candidates. I wrote this exam in 1990. We were the first batch of the JHS system, and our number was just about 250, but today, you are 2,145. It means that the population is growing, and we need to do more to meet the population that is growing. It means that the search for jobs, access to secondary schools have also become difficult, so you need to work extra hard. I will urge you to be confident. If you don’t have confidence, you are already 50% down, and make sure that you use time judiciously.” He stressed.

Going into the exam hall, the MP encouraged the candidates to remain confident in their ability to pass and be conscious of the time spent on every question.

In recent times, the pass rate in the BECE across all levels has become a matter of concern.

Lawyer Bawa Dua indicated that he is aware of the challenges many of the schools in the district are grappling with and has therefore committed himself to working to gradually address such challenges.

“I am going to work hard to ensure that we improve upon the educational facilities in the district. I am aware of the lack of tables, chairs, and desks for students. I am aware of the challenges even at the secondary level in the district, and I am going to work hard to ensure that we improve upon the facilities that we have in the district.” He assured.

Motivated by the gesture, some candidates assured the MP and education actors of making good grades this year.

“My name is Atanga Deborah. I want to thank the MP for the mathematical set, and I want to tell him that we will not disappoint him. We will make sure that we make him proud. I will make sure my best grade is 6 or my worst grade is 12,” She assured.

Another candidate, Apikiya Ransford, said he is prepared and equally grateful to the MP. “I am prepared for the exams. I have been reading all the subjects. I want to thank the MP, and I should be expecting between 6 and 14.” He said with high hopes of becoming a scientist in the future.
