Alcoholic beverage, Happy Many Bitters has withdrawn as main sponsor of the Upper East Music Awards for this year.
The decision, Charger Limited, producers of the alcoholic beverage, explained, forms part of ongoing “internal restructuring and strategic realignment”.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the company, it said it remains “committed to the growth of talent in the region” and assured organizers of the award scheme of its support, “if possible, for subsequent editions”.
“We hope the scheme grows and addresses its perennial shortfalls,” the statement added.
The company further announced that it will no longer hold a ceremony to present prizes to award winners of last year’s edition of the wards and urged winners to reach out to the company in the region for their prizes.
Happy Man Bitters has been the main sponsor of the award scheme since its inception.
It had briefly suspended its sponsorship in 2022 following controversy that surrounded the 2021 edition of the awards and returned the following year as headline sponsor.
