Organizers of the Ghana Northern Music Awards have called on musicians, media practitioners, promoters and other entertainment stakeholders in the Upper East Region to support efforts aimed at growing the northern music industry.
Speaking on Dreamz FM’s Work Stretch programme with DJ Skimmy, GNMA officials said the success of the awards scheme depended on collaboration and collective support from creatives across the five northern regions.
Programs Manager Hameed Mohammed said the team deliberately extended its engagement activities to the Upper East Region to ensure inclusivity and avoid perceptions that the scheme was centered only in Tamale.
“That is why we came down here physically, so nobody would feel left out,” he said.
According to him, the awards platform was created to help promote northern talents, connect artistes to opportunities and attract investment into the entertainment industry.
GNMA CEO Sakura also appealed to media houses and entertainment personalities in the region to actively participate in activities organized under the scheme.
“We need everybody on board. Not only musicians, but presenters, promoters and all industry players,” he said.
The organizers explained that the awards initiative was intended to unite creatives from the northern sector while creating platforms for talents to gain wider recognition.
They noted that northern musicians often struggle to break into the national entertainment space due to limited promotion and support systems.
The GNMA team said part of their long-term vision was to create stronger visibility for artistes from the north through media promotions, billboards and national interviews.
They further encouraged stakeholders in the Upper East Region to see the awards scheme as a collective project meant to benefit the entire northern entertainment industry.
According to the organizers, stronger cooperation among creatives and media practitioners would help elevate northern music onto bigger national and international platforms.
