UMABO AT THE OUTDOORING OF THE CERTIFICATE

Birthdays are often considered special days in the lives of human beings as they serve as a reminder of the struggle of birth, the challenges of life, and the need to remain relevant in a fast-changing world.

They also remind people of the need to celebrate being alive. This sometimes leads individuals to organize parties, make donations, hold prayer sessions, or spend time with family reflecting on their lives since these celebrations vary from person to person.

For those born in the month of May, however, celebrating one’s birthday has been taken a notch higher through the formation of the Union of People Born in the Month of May.

The Union, which started on a small scale in 2011 and was initially regarded as a joke, gradually evolved into a large organization that carries out month-long activities, including donations, outreach programmes, clean-up exercises, blood donation campaigns, and football games.

To climax its 2026 activities, the Union made donations to newborn babies at the Upper East Regional Hospital, the Bongo District Hospital, and the Talensi District Hospital.

At the Regional Hospital, 37 newborns received welcome gifts, while 21 newborns benefited at the Bongo District Hospital and 18 at the Talensi District Hospital.

While celebrating the end of the month of May on Sunday, May 31, 2026, the Union concluded its activities for the month and the year with the outdooring of its Certificate of Incorporation, making it arguably the first union of people born in a particular month of the year to achieve such a milestone.

The Global President, William Nlanjerbor Jalular, explained to the media that the Union is now repositioned to do more for society following its registration.

He noted that the incorporation gives the Union credibility and demonstrates that it can be trusted, as the registration process requires the organization to streamline its activities.

“We started it in 2011, when I was actively the host of the morning show Day Break Upper East on A1 radio and I noticed that a lot of people calling to my program to wish  others happy birthday and it was overwhelming and being a Mayborn, I developed interest in knowing (0 how this was going and so quickly I put out my number asking those who were calling in to text me and tell me when they were born and all of that. So after that we linked up,  I started calling them and by 2011 we, had our first meeting and got interim executive in place. Since then we’ve been doing all manner of social activities supporting our members and also the general public.

So we’ve done blood donations over the years, we’ve done  clean-up exercises to engage the media in friendly games and then also we have been presenting items  to newborn babies every year and getting our get-together on the last day of the month of May.” He said.

DONATION TO SOME FACILITIES

He further disclosed that the Union will, in the future, explore ways of improving the welfare of its members.
