In January 2021, the girls’ dormitory at Paga Senior High School in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region was ravaged by fire. Since then, the structure has remained in ruins.
Almost five years after the fire destroyed the building, appeals for its renovation have not yielded any positive results.
However, the condition of the fire-ravaged structure may soon change, as Kacstone Records has begun molding blocks for its renovation.
The fire further worsened the plight of the students, who are already grappling with inadequate infrastructure.
It is against this backdrop that the management of Kacstone Records, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Wenawome Aborah, has committed resources toward renovating the building.
While announcing Kacstone Records’ decision to renovate the girls’ dormitory, Raymond Addah noted that the delay in refurbishing the structure is adversely affecting teaching and learning.
“The Girls dormitory of the school which was destroyed by fire far back in January 2021, still remains in ruins. The Paga Youth Movement began efforts to mobilize funds for its renovation but could not finish.” He disclosed.
He further called for the absorption of Paga Senior High School as a fully-fledged boarding school.
Kacstone Record’s has stepped in to ensure the renovation of dormitory – we have began molding blocks at the site for that purpose.
“While we are proud of this contribution, we acknowledge that it is only a small step toward addressing the broader needs of the school. We therefore join the call for the full absorption of Paga SHS into a boarding institution, as well as support for the construction of dormitories, laboratories, and the fencing of the school, among other critical infrastructure needs.” He added.

Meanwhile, the District Director of Education, Mary Magdeline Wompakea, also joined calls for the school to be upgraded into a fully-fledged boarding institution.
