Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Anthony Namoo has retained his position in the just ended Regional Executives Elections of the party in Bolgatanga making him the first regional chairman of the party to complete a full term and proceed to a second term.

The private legal practitioner polled a whopping 114 votes to clinch to a second term in office as Regional Chairman of the ruling party.

Ahead of the Friday elections, many analysts and election watchers had expressed fears over the possible chances of the incumbent Chairman for a second term. They argued that the outcome of the 2020 parliamentary elections in the region which saw the party drop it’s seats from three to one was likely to affect his re-election.

However, the resounding victory of the lawyer speaks volumes of a massive endorsement by delegates of the party.

Lawyer Anthony Namoo is the first Upper East Regional Chairman of the party to complete his four year term in the history of the party in the region. While most previous chairman of the party died during their  first term in office, Agnes Chigabatia who was once Regional Chairperson resigned to contest parliamentary primaries in the Builsa North Constituency.

His re-election makes another history as he becomes the first to get a second term to lead the party in the region.

Meanwhile, Dr Moses Atinga, a medical practitioner who was 1st Vice Chairman of the party came second with some 99 votes whiles Filson Awankwa got 42 votes.
