The Parents and Teachers Association of Zamse Senior High/Technical School has provided a total of 150 dining tables and 300 benches to the school to enable students sit for meals.

The donation forms part of efforts by the association to address the school’s furniture deficit.

The PTA had previously supported the school with learning desks, waste containers and has been providing sheets for examination.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the furniture on Friday, PTA Chairman Volumeng David decried the furniture deficit and urged parents to provide learning desks for their wards.

He further urged them to honour their dues to the association to help address infrastructural challenges and improve teaching and learning in the school.

“The furniture we have in the school is not enough for the students. So, during the admission time, I appealed to colleague parents to assist us, if possible, to get furniture for their wards when they are reporting.”

“We want to appeal to parents especially those whose wards are in Form 2 and 3 to pay the PTA Development Levy, which is solely a decision of the PTA.”

Headmaster of the school Simon Anaba expressed gratitude to the PTA for its support and entreated it to continue in that regard.

He recalled the school’s glorious days in sports and said management is working to reclaim its past glory.

“I would say a very thank you to the PTA for listening to our cry and coming to support us. It’s only the dining benches that they have done. Last year and two years ago, they provided classroom furniture totalling 600 for the school to augment that of the government’s provision,” he stated.

“Initially, they also provided two refuse containers that we can now use for waste management. So I would call the PTA to continue to support the school.”

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga Roland Atanga Ayoo underscored the role of the PTA in improving the quality of education and assured the school of the Mahama administration’s commitment to addressing challenges besetting teaching and learning in the school.
