Head of Research for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s Campaign Team for the 2023 presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Kukubor says his boss would have won the elections handsomely if the processes were not fraught with irregularities.

Mr. Kukubor claimed a research led by him reveals that Dr. Duffuor would have won over 60 percent of the votes if the exercise was to be conducted with a credible electoral register.

According to him, despite the massive support former president, John Dramani Mahama enjoys particularly from bigwigs of the party, his boss is the favourite among the grassroots.

The party’s grassroots, he claimed, believe Dr. Duffuor is the right candidate to win over floating voters and realize the party’s bid to return to the presidency, hence, they are yearning for him lead them into the 2024 Elections.

“Kwabena Duffuor would have won over 60 percent if we should go strictly and make sure the voter register is credible, people would have shocked in this country. We were not perturbed by the propaganda which was being run by constituency and regional executives.

That’s why we went to the grassroots. The grassroots are desirous of change because they know what the floating voters are saying. Floating voters are looking for a new face. The floating voters are tired of NPP administration but again, they’re requesting for a new face so that they can transpose that trust,” he stated on JoyNews TV.

Mr. Kukubor said this hours before his boss announced his decision to withdraw from the contest.

At a press conference in Accra yesterday, Dr. Duffuor told journalists that he could not partake in the elections because the voters register which will be used for the exercise is fraught with irregularities.

The former Minister of Finance said he had relentlessly tried to get leadership of the party to rectify anomalies he and his team detected in the register in order to ensure free, fair and credible elections.

But the party’s executives, after agreeing at a meeting to set up a committee to address the irregularities, proceeded with the processes without, first, resolving the error-ridden document as agreed.

Dr. Duffuor, who described this act by the executive of the party as a complete breach of faith and unacceptable, said he would be consciously involving himself in a fraudulent process if he partakes in the elections thus, his decision to pull out.
