Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has dismissed reports that former President John Dramani Mahama has wired some money to be distributed to delegates of the party in the constituency.

The unconfirmed reports also claimed the money was sent to Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine and the constituency executives for onward distribution to the delegates but that was not done.

Some delegates of the NDC in the Bolgatanga East Constituency have said they have received calls from unnamed persons who claim John Dramani Mahama had sent an amount of Ghc 500 for each delegates through the Member of Parliament.

Dr Dominic Akuritinga who appears infuriated by the rumours described them as unhealthy for the party in the constituency as he strongly believes the narration is a handy work of his opponent in the ongoing parliamentary primaries.

“This morning I got a number of calls obviously from branch executives who had received the call informing them that the former President has sent Ghc 500 to each delegates, saying that myself and the constituency executives have decided to seat on the money and that we don’t intend to release the money to the delegates. We suspected very strongly and that is the suspicion that it came from our opponent’s camp. I was grossly disappointed and I have always said that we should do politics with integrity, not to be dishonest and not try to lie to the people so they can vote for one candidate or the other. I was infuriated,” Dr Ayine told journalists.

The former Deputy Attorney General who is seeking reelection to parliament disclosed that he has confronted the camp of his opponent on the matter but they have denied orchestrating such rumours.
