Social activist and seasoned radio presenter, Stanley Abopam believes many Ghanaians are looking up to former president, John Dramani Mahama to rescue the country from its current messy state.
Speaking on State of Our Nation, Mr. Abopam stated that a significant number of right-minded Ghanaians are convinced that the former president is the right person to resolve the prevailing crisis the country is facing.
This, he said, reflected in the just ended presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The primaries, which were held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 saw Mr. Mahama poll 98.9 percent of the valid votes cast to emerge as presidential candidate of the opposition party.
But this resounding victory, Mr. Abopam argued, is indication of the former president’s popularity not just within the NDC but among the populace who, he believes, will give him a similar endorsement in the General Elections.
“John Mahama resonates well with the rank and file of the NDC and even not only the NDC, but a significant number of right thinking Ghanaians do believe that he is the right person to rescue the country from , for want of a better word and borrowing that of Alhaji Hamid, to rescue this country from the mess. And so, what happened on Saturday is a micro reflection of the general view of Ghanaians,” he stated.
