JOSEPH KPEMKA - FORMER DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL

Former Member of Parliament for the Tempane Constituency, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka says there are intense calls on him to run for the seat again in next year’s polls.

The former Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice managed to snatch the seat from David Adakudugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 Election but failed to retain it in the subsequent election.

He lost it to the NDC’s Akanvariba Lydia Lamisi who polled almost 56 percent of the votes cast in the polls.

But a little over 2 years after his ousting, Mr. Kpemka says constituents are yearning for him to return as their representative.

He believes his successor has failed to adequately represent the people, leaving a vacuum and thus, the calls on him to run for the seat again in 2024.

“The calls (on him to contest) are from within and outside. It has been very massive and I appreciate that. I have always said that it’s very difficult to determine the worth of a person you’re living with unless he’s not there and my absence has actually created a certain vacuum that the calls come in every day and I, with all humility, tell them that I will make a declaration that would not disappoint them,” he said in interview on State of Our Nation.

When asked whether he will accept the requests to contest or not, Mr. Kpemka said he is yet to take a definite decision on the matter but indicated that he is likely to respond positively to the calls.

“You can guess from the dialog going on between us that it’s very easy to give certain answers and so if you find me speaking this way then you can begin to conjecture that hopefully I should be able to answer positively to the demands that are being made and the calls that are being made on me”.
