Mathew Silas Amoah, a parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party for Bolgatanga East Constituency has rubbished claims that illicit business is the source of his wealth.
The astute businessman who filed his nominations to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party stated that the name calling is due to the unmatched development he has brought to the people.
According to him, his recent unmatched developmental projects spread across communities in the area have left people questioning his source of funds, while some describe him as ‘Sakawa’.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine in March 2023 advised Mr Mathew Amoah to be conscious in his expenditure in the name of development to realize his dreams of being an MP.
Mr Amoah however noted that, he is a business man and has the resources to bring positive change to the lives of the people.
He said “When someone wants to discredit you, most of our politicians do a lot of name calling because we do things they cannot do, we help so much that they think it is not possible for some body to help, they try to find tags to it”.
“I do business and I have my records. Every business man has his records at the Registrar General, GRA, SSNIT. I’m not just greedy. I just want to see people grow, but they [opponents] see the pace at which we are going, If they don’t find something to attach to our name….but thank God the people are very smart. They tell them, even if it’s ‘Sakawa’, they will eat,” he told journalists.
He therefore challenged those who doubt his source of money to verify from all the regulatory state institutions in country.
