ROBERT ALIBO- NPP PARLIMANTARY ASPIRANT, TALENSI

A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Robert Alibo Ayinenaba has officially entered the race for the party’s ticket in the Talensi Constituency.

This was after he successfully filed his nomination on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the party’s office in Tongo.

Addressing the press after the process, Mr. Alibo explained that his decision to enter the race is in response to calls by residents of the constituency.

He said he has demonstrated that he has the development of the area at heart through his contributions over the years hence, the incessant calls on him to contest the position.

He pledged to equipped especially the youth of the area with employable skills and position them for the job market if he gets the party’s nod and eventually becomes the people’s representative.

The former constituency executive of the NPP noted that although some of the youth have requisite skills for employment, they are inaccessible by the job market.

He, therefore, intends to create a database system of available skilled labour in the constituency as way of linking them to vacancies in the market and also provide in-service training to improve their skills.

“I intend to build Talensi Distric a skills bank such that everybody’s skills will be stored in that database so that as I sit in my office, I have connections and links.

Somebody calls, I say ‘look, let me go through this. This will be best fit for this person’ and then the person will go and it will be on point. All of us will have access to that skills bank and know whom to call anytime there’s an opportunity,” he said.

This, believes, will help curb unemployment especially among the youth in the area.

On his chances of winning the primary, Mr. Alibo said he is the people’s favourite but called on leadership of the party to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.

“I come to contest not because I’m so much interested in becoming a leader, I want to be able to rally my people to solve the developmental needs of the place. That call is deep in me and I hear the voices from the ground and I cannot disappoint the people when they have the belief in me”.

He also urged his supporters to be decorous in the campaign and not resort to attacking his opponents.

Robert Alibo Ayinenaba is making his 3rd attempt for the NPP’s Talensi parliamentary ticket after failing on 2 different occasions.

He, however, disputes that he lost in any of those elections.

According to him, the will of the people did not prevail.
