The Electoral Commission is asking the public to report its officials who misconduct themselves in the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise.
Upper East Regional Director of the commission, William Obeng said although the EC expects its officials deployed for the exercise across the country to be professional in executing their duties, the public should not hesitate to report to its offices if any of them mistreats them in their quest to be registered.
He noted that the commission embraces inclusiveness and will not countenance any conduct that seeks to disparage applicants regardless of their background.
“If you go there and you encounter any challenge; our officials are not being friendly, when they are rude or whatever, which I believe they are not going to be because we’ve trained them enough to admit whoever qualifies to be served. (But) if you encounter such an issue, don’t hesitate to call the regional office for redress,” he said.
“Our philosophy is all inclusiveness, transparency, accountability and integrity. So people should help and cooperate with us so that we serve our motherland”.
Mr. Obeng indicated that the EC has been able to resolve all technical hitches that almost marred the exercise at the onset in the region.
He, however, entreated prospective applicants to bear with officials of the commission should they encounter such challenges at the registration centres in the course of the exercise.
