The Talensi District has extended its monthly cleanup exercise to Winkogo as part of the National Sanitation Day initiative, mobilizing residents and officials to tackle environmental hygiene in the community.

The exercise, held on Saturday, April 19, 2026, brought together District Chief Executive Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, staff of the environmental department, assembly staff, youth groups, and residents of Winkogo who cleaned streets and gutters across the township.

Speaking to the media during the exercise, Hon. Nabwomya called on residents to take personal responsibility for sanitation, describing cleanliness as a fundamental duty for everyone.

“The issue of sanitation has to do with the attitude of the people. Cleanliness is a personal activity. Everyone should take cleanliness as a serious matter. It should be an everyday activity in our homes and the environment,” the DCE stated.

He emphasized that environmental hygiene should not be treated as a once-a-month obligation but rather as a daily practice that every individual must prioritize. Hon. Nabwomya charged residents not to relax when it comes to cleanliness, considering the significant health benefits associated with maintaining clean surroundings.

The DCE stressed that achieving lasting sanitation improvements requires a fundamental shift in public attitude towards waste management and environmental care. He urged the people of Winkogo to embrace cleanliness as both a personal and communal responsibility that directly impacts their health and quality of life.
