The Bolgatanga Central Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Abagna, popularly known as Abaska, has rated the performance of the Member of Parliament for the area, Isaac Adongo, giving the MP a 30 percent score.
Mr. Abagna described the MP’s performance over the past two terms as abysmal, arguing that it falls short of expectations. According to him, Mr. Adongo has underperformed over the last eight years despite maintaining strong support within the constituency.
Speaking on Wednesday on the State of Our Nation, a current affairs show on Dreamz Fm Mr. Abagna claimed that the MP became more visible only after the NPP’s 2024 parliamentary candidate initiated several development projects, including road construction and efforts to address community challenges.
“I have assessed Adongo and I can say throughout his eight years, I will score him 30 percent. Not until Figo came out and was digging boreholes, constructing pavilions and doing a lot of things that made Adongo to come out. He only came some months to the 2024 elections to renovate the Soe Primary School in my electoral area. I think that for 8years, he should have done better for Soe and the entire constituency. Figo did a lot of work and they still voted for Adongo.” He said.
He further urged Mr. Adongo who is now serving his third term, to improve his performance.
Mr. Abagna noted that with the MP’s party currently in government—and with Mr. Adongo serving as Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee and a member of the Board of Governors of the Bank of Ghana, there are high expectations of him adding he cannot afford to fail on delivering development to the constituents.
“This is the time for him to do well. He used to say his mother is not in the kitchen. Today, the mother is in the kitchen so he cannot complain again. If he fails to satisfy his constituents this time round, it means he himself failed the people not the government again because your party is in power. A board member of the Bank of Ghana and Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament, there is no excuse.” Noted
