NDC Bolgatanga Central Constituency Secretary Isaac Ayemvoa has called for civility and responsibility in Ghana’s political discourse, warning against insults and reckless commentary in the media space.

Speaking on Dreamz FM’s State of Our Nation programme, Mr Ayemvoa said politicians and media commentators must exercise restraint when discussing national issues and public officials.

“We should not encourage characters who insult people and get away with it,” he said.

Mr Ayemvoa particularly criticised what he described as reckless public commentary targeting judges and state officials, insisting that disagreements should be resolved through lawful means.

“As an NDC person, if I’m displeased with the action of a certain judge, I know where to go,” he said. “You can seek redress through the courts.”

According to him, politicians who publicly attack judges risk undermining public confidence in democratic institutions.

“It is not left unto me to use power and strength,” Mr Ayemvoa stated. “Simply go back to the law courts and seek justice.”

He also defended the right of institutions to investigate alleged misconduct where necessary, saying no individual should be above accountability.

Mr Ayemvoa stressed that political actors should focus on strengthening democratic systems instead of escalating tensions through inflammatory rhetoric.

“We shouldn’t use opportunities to insult people in public,” he added.

He acknowledged concerns over some judicial decisions but insisted that constitutional processes remain the appropriate avenue for addressing grievances.

“The judge could be wrong,” he noted, “but there are avenues for you to seek redress.”

Mr Ayemvoa urged political leaders to promote maturity and responsible communication to preserve national unity and democratic stability.
