An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bongo Constituency, Lawyer Charles Bawadua has launched his campaign with a promise to rescue the party at the constituency level.

NDC will hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023, to elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 elections.

Lawyer Charles Bawadua contested the NDC’s Parliamentary Primaries in 2011 and 2015, and is currently contesting with other two Aspirants in the upcoming May 13, 2023 race.

According to him, what informed his decision to contest for the third time was the drawback of development in the constituency and indicated that, his top priorities among other things would be Agriculture, Gender and Youth Empowerment, Health, Education and Customary Relations.

Speaking to delegates and party faithfuls during the campaign launch in the constituency on Saturday, April 15, 2023, Lawyer Bawadua said, “We need to rescue our party at the constituency level. The violent disregard for party structures, lack of candor, seeds of disunity, and venal behaviors at the moment may cost us at the polls. I offer hope and a united front that will restore dignity and hope”.

“The constituency is awash with a myriad of developmental challenges that also presents promising opportunities, which have largely not been tapped. These problems cannot be solved or tackled by either relying on the MP’s share of the Common Fund, or doing nothing but plethora of complaints and excuses. And as we have all seen over the past seven or so years, our MP’s reliance on complaints and the meager Common Funds have been as good as an exercise in mediocrity, with nothing to show for,” he added.

He noted that, his proposed broad approach will be based on leveraging, pooling, innovating and scaling of promising initiatives to deliver for the people while prioritizing the development of the constituency and party by expanding opportunities, supporting skills and human capital if he is elected the Parliamentary Candidate and subsequently the Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Lawyer Bawadua therefore impressed upon delegates to give him the nod to enable him address developmental challenges in Bongo.
