Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Blue Sky Hotel and BlueWaves Radio 93.7 FM, COP Patrick Akolgo (Rtd) has handed over a borehole to the Tindonmolgo Primary School in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region. The borehole was constructed in response to a request made by the Assembly Member of the area, Emmanuel Ayamga Nsobila.
The story behind this generous act is one of tragedy and necessity. According to COP Akolgo, he was moved by a narration from the Tindana and Assembly Member of the area about the challenges pupils faced in accessing drinking water during school hours.
The lack of water in the school had resulted in pupils spending valuable contact hours leaving the classroom to drink water from a distant community source, disrupting teaching and learning.
The situation was made even more poignant by the death of a pupil, who was knocked down and killed by a motor while crossing a road to fetch water from the community source. COP Akolgo said, “When attention was drawn to the needs of the borehole relative to the unfortunate death of a pupil who was killed by a motor when crossing a road to drink water from the community, which is a bit distant from the school, I knew I had to act.”
“I was deeply touched by the story, and I knew I had to support the community. As always, it’s my pleasure to support communities, especially in areas like water provision,” COP added.

The construction of the hand pump borehole within the school premises is a significant step towards ensuring the pupils’ safety and well-being.
This latest initiative adds to the numerous boreholes drilled by COP Akolgo for schools and communities within the Upper East Region. His selfless act has brought relief to the Tindonmolgo Primary School community, and his commitment to giving back to society is truly commendable.
The school authorities have expressed their gratitude to COP Akolgo for his kindness and generosity, as the pupils can now focus on their studies without having to worry about accessing clean drinking water.
