LAMTIIG APANGA LEGAL PRACTITIONER

Parliamentary aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Nabdam Constituency, Lamtiig Apanga has touted the impact he is making on the lives of residents of the area.

Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation, Mr. Lamtiig said he has, through a seminar he organised in the constituency, inspired about 5 residents to pursue legal education.

Others who attended the seminar in 2021 have also expressed interest in studying law, the legal practitioner said.

This, Mr. Lamtiig stated, is a mark of the good leadership he is pledging to provide if he is made Member of Parliament for the area.

“I had opportunity to inspire young people in Nabdam where I brought Deputy Attorney General, Samson Lardi Anyenini and other legal personalities to talk to our youth about law and opportunities in the legal profession.

Today, as I speak to you, out of that, we have been able to get 5 of our young people in law school. That’s the result of that initiative and there more who are willing to. They have come to realize that it’s possible. It’s not as difficult as we see it. You don’t need to be a special breed to be a lawyer,” he stated.

According to the parliamentary aspirant, the nature of the constituency’s deprivation requires  the right leadership to galvanize residents and inspire them to better themselves for a holistic development of the area.

But the incumbent MP, he said, has failed to provide this kind of leadership, leaving the area in its deplorable state.

“Our current MP is a medical doctor. No single student is in medical school born out of the inspiration, the funding and the support of the MP. And he is going 8 years in Parliament. Yet he is not being to push a single student to go to medical school. That’s one of the things that’s lacking.

If we talk of development, you should be an example to others. He ought to have at least, by now, put together 2 or 3 students through the medical profession so that we can also boast of some persons who will come and fill in the gaps,” he posited.

Mr. Lamtiig is, however, assuring residents of the needed leadership to propel development of the constituency if he is made MP.

The legal practitioner is running for the NDC’s parliamentary ticket for the Nabdam Constituency against two others; the incumbent MP, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane and Francis Sampana Zuure.

But the contest, political watchers say, is between the legal practitioner and the incumbent MP.

The elections have been scheduled to take place on May 13, 2023. But that has been thrown into a state of uncertainty following a lawsuit filed by a presidential aspirant, Kwabena Duffuor seeking to restrain the party from going ahead with the primaries.
