Another woman has taken to social media to plead with the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs to intervene and increase the bride price for the Builsa people, describing the current rate as the cheapest in the entire country.

The appeal is not the first of its kind. A similar plea was recently made on social media by another woman, also calling on the traditional authority to review the Builsa bride price, a subject that has been generating increasing conversation and reactions across social media platforms in the region.

The latest woman, whose identity also remains unknown, made an emotional appeal on behalf of Builsa women, calling on the House of Chiefs to change the narrative surrounding their marriage value.

“The most cheapest bride price in the whole of Ghana is the Builsa’s. Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, I’m on my knees on behalf of all Builsa’s. And it’s not like we are getting husbands. We beg for a change,” she said in her post.

Her appeal has since generated significant reactions on social media, with many users continuing to weigh in on the subject of bride price and its implications for how women are valued in marriage across communities in the region.
