Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region Andrew Asungiiba Atariwine says Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will not shy away from the failures of the NPP government in his campaign to be elected president.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia, who is the flagbearer of the NPP for the December polls, will not only take credit for the successes the government chalked in his campaigns but will also admit its failures and accept collective responsibility where necessary.

The Deputy Regional Communications Director said this while speaking on the NPP flagbearer’s campaign tour.

A statement signed by the Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team Dennis Miracles Aboagye announced that the Vice-President will commence a nationwide campaign tour ahead of the December polls.

The tour, which will see the party leader visit various constituencies across the 16 regions, Andrew Atariwine explained, will afford him an opportunity to present his vision for the country to the electorates and to listen and consider their concerns and needs in drafting the party’s 2024 manifesto.

He stated that the Vice-President will premise his campaign on the achievements of the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government but will also admit its failures where admissible and take shared responsibility as well as proffer solutions.

“He will admit to (the failures of the government) if they are admissible and he will tell the country why they didn’t work out and he will give the country, in his position, what can be done in such regard if those policies are still relevant to the benefit of Ghanaians,” he stated in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is seeking to succeed his boss as president, has been criticized for attempting to absolve himself of the non-performance of the government.

But Atariwine dismissed such criticisms, stating that the Vice-President shares in both the successes and failures of the administration.
