Ghanaian artiste Bill Gucci has dismissed claims that he is controversial, saying his public comments are often rooted in facts and personal conviction.
In an interview on Dreamz FM’s “Breakfast Today,” Gucci said criticism sometimes follows his willingness to speak openly on issues.
“When you stand up for the truth, people see you as doing something wrong,” he said.
The artiste also spoke about his close relationship with dancehall star Shatta Wale, describing it as a “father and son” bond rather than a typical industry connection.
“He can call me and advise me on business or music,” Gucci said. “It’s beyond music.”
Gucci confirmed he has collaborated with the musician and hinted at more projects in the future, though he noted he is strategic about releasing such work.
Outside music, Gucci said he spends about 90% of his time on his craft while managing several businesses. He described himself as self-motivated, driven by the need to rebuild after losing the comfort he once had growing up.
“I didn’t lack anything before,” he said. “Then you lose everything and have to build again.”
On his personal life, Gucci said he is not currently married and has no immediate plans to do so, despite having a young son.
“I’m still too young for that phase,” he said, adding that life does not follow a fixed path. “Life has no scope.”
He also rejected the idea of dwelling on regrets, saying challenges should instead be seen as opportunities to improve.
“I have never regretted anything in my life,” he said.
Gucci added that his approach to life and music is grounded in realism and personal experience, with many of his songs reflecting either lived experiences or creative storytelling.
