Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has accused government of refusing to release funds for the completion of a library project in the constituency.
Construction work on the project, which was initiated in 2015 by Dr. Ayine, has stalled for sometime now, with some questioning the MP’s commitment to completing the project.
Addressing party faithfuls after a unity walk in the constituency in February this year, Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) criticised the MP for prioritising the construction of a constituency office for his party over the facility.
According to Salahu-Deen Musah Al-Khomeini the MP’s inability to complete the library project raises fundamental questions about his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
But Dr. Ayine, in an interview with journalists, blamed government for refusing to release funds for the completion of the facility.
He, however, indicated that he is seeking private funding for the project and will see to its completion.
“They (government) have refused to give me money for the library, I’m seeking private funding and the library will be completed and commissioned,” he told media men.
