Charger Limited, producers of Happy Man Bitter – headline sponsor of the Upper East Music Awards – has rescinded its withdrawal of sponsorship for the award scheme.

The company had announced on July 30, 2025 that it was stepping aside as the main sponsor of the region’s music award scheme, citing “internal restructuring and strategic realignment”.

It also cancelled the award prize presentation ceremony and instructed awardees to individually reached out to its staff for their prizes. It, however, said it was still open to lending support to the scheme.

The development had come at the back of complaints  about delays in giving out prizes to winners at the 2024 awards.

On November 6, 2025, however, CEO of Charger Limited Emmanuel Bortey Borketey urged organizers of the award to appeal to the company for a possible review of its decision.

It is not known whether the organizers heeded to his advice but the Charger Limited’s CEO announced yesterday that the company reviewed its previous decision and has recommitted to fully sponsoring the event.

“Over the past few months, Charger Limited has carefully reviewed the work behind UEMA, and we are delighted to share some exciting news,” he stated in a Facebook post.

“As a birthday surprise for the event organiser, Kabu Banks, the company has committed to fully sponsoring the upcoming edition of the event.”

“This decision reflects our confidence in the organiser’s vision, creativity, and the positive impact the initiative continues to make.”

He added that the company has proposed to One Love Entertainment, organizers of the award, to hold the event next year during Easter festivities  and entreated them to begin preparation as soon as possible in order to ensure a seamless event.
