With concerns emerging that some grinding mills constructed by the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga, Isaac Adongo have not been operationalized, Job Aboyom, the Communication Officer for constituency has clarified that it is due to some communities not finalizing the approach to adopt in operating the facilities.
According to him, some of the communities have communicated to him that they are going to hold meetings on the management of the grinding mills in order to ensure their smooth operations.
The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, has defended his decision to construct 15 grinding mills for communities within the constituency.
Mr. Adongo explained that the sharp criticism of the initiative is borne out of ignorance, adding that the grinding mills were requested by the communities.
While commissioning kindergarten (KG) and maternity blocks at Anateem and inspecting other projects—including the construction of a culvert, a refurbished police post, and boreholes—as part of a project inspection tour of the constituency on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the MP also commissioned a grinding mill for residents of Amogrebisi in Sumbrungu.
The emergence of a video on social media has since generated controversy, with some people describing such projects as mediocre. However, responding to his critics after inspecting other projects on Thursday, the MP said the criticism stemmed from a lack of understanding of the needs of the communities.
Responding to concerns about the grinding mills not being operationalized, Mr. Aboyom noted that it is now up to the communities to adopt the best approach to operationalize the grinding mills.
“It is not that he only provided the grinding mills and installed them but he provided these grinding mills, built a structure, roofed the structure, painted it and connected it to electricity. When you go to Yorogo, my interactions with community members show that the community members are yet to meet to take a decision on how to operationalize it. So,in most of the communities it is like that because the communities have to take charge. If you go to Akuka, that one has been operationalized and that is the issue in many of the commuties.” He narrated.
He however, added that the MP has instructed the contractor to visit the various communities to ensure there are no outstanding issues apart from the community level operational issues.
“Last week, the MP asked the contractor to go to the various communities to ensure everything is 100% but there are no major issues that should stop them from operating the mills.” He added.
