The Upper East Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Donatus Akamukre has called on the Member for Binduri Constituency Abdulai Abanga to prepare for his exit from parliament.

Donatus Akamukre said the NDC has mended all its internal wrangling that culminated in it losing the seat in the last elections and is poised to win back in the December polls.

The main opposition party lost the seat to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections though it won the presidential polls.

The party has always maintained that it loaned the seat to the NPP and would reclaim it in the next election.

However, the NPP, and its candidate and MP for the area, who claimed they are undertaking massive development in the constituency, believe their performance will clinch them another victory.

But speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM, Donatus Akamukre said despite the developmental projects being undertaken in the area, the MP does not a chance of retaining the seat.

“He shouldn’t rely on that and think that he has drilled boreholes for that matter he will win the elections,” he stated.

Making reference to former Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage’s defeat in the Navrongo Central Constituency parliamentary election in 2020, the NDC regional Secretary argued that it takes more than development to win an election.

“Tangoba was the regional minister and was contesting the Navrongo seat, what development did she not do that? All the DCEs were behind her. What was the differential votes between her and our candidate? So being a minister is nothing and carrying a government project there is nothing”.

He also reiterated the NDC’s resolve to win all 15 seats in the region in the upcoming polls.
