Head of News at Dreamz FM, Nicholas Nambirigya Azebire has been adjudged the Most Promising Journalist in the Upper East Region.

Nicholas Azebire was given the honour for his impactful journalistic works in the year under review at the Second Edition of the Regional Ghana Journalists Association Awards.

Through compelling story telling, he has, over years of practising in the region, brought hope to the hopeless and got justice for victims of social injustice.

His report, ‘Defiled and Bruised’ which was published in 2022 highlighted the plight of minors who were sexually defiled and left traumatised, some pregnant. The report led to the arrest of 2 perpetrators one of whom has been convicted.

Accordingly, Nicholas was awarded the Best Child Protection Reporter of the Year.

He also took home Best Disability Reporter for his report on the plight of a 22-year-old visually impaired student, whose dreams of pursuing law almost crashed due to financial constraints. Through Nicholas’ exceptional journalism, David Ayorogo’s dreams were resuscitated and he is currently studying law at the university.

As result of these remarkable works, the Dreamz FM’s Head of News was ultimately crowned Most Promising Journalist in the region.
