The Electoral Commission says it has informed the Ghana Police Service to kick start criminal investigation into an alleged bribery of its now suspended staff by the Member for Parliament for Kwadaso.
Prof. Kingsley Nyarko was caught on camera dropping an envelope on a table manned by two EC officers.
The EC said its preliminary investigations reveal that the MP walked up to the officers – Regina Serwaa, a Ballot Issuer and George Sasu, Presiding Officer – and enquired whether they had eaten.
“He then placed the envelope on the table and asked them to use the contents of the envelope for their lunch, following which he walked away” .
In an earlier statement, the commission announced that it withdrawn the officers and subsequently, caused investigations into their action.
But in another statement issued hours later, the EC indicated that it, “held preliminary discussions with the Ghana Police Service to kick start the process for criminal investigations into the matter”.
