What initially started as a project for parents of children attending the Gambibgo Primary School in the Bolga East District which saw parents start contributions from 5 which later went up to 15 cedis to start the foundation of a computer laboratory for the school has yielded positive results with other individuals and organizations like Machina Foundation and Maxim Nyansa stepping in following several appeals for support by the Chief of Gambibgo, Naba Sadik Akolmolga Anon-Egra.

The initial efforts by the community members, the chief of the area and the decision of the two organization to step in saw to the completion of the laboratory and the eventual installation of computers.

The first person to donate computers to the school is the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party,(NPP) Mathew Silas Amoah, and then the donation of over 50 computers by Macina Foundation/Maxim Nyansa.

Apart from the installation of the computers, the organizations with support also coming from Silas Amoah ensured that 34 teachers from the Bolga East District received training to properly man such infrastructure.

The globalized world has placed Information Communication Technology (ICT) at the top of the developmental agenda. Unfortunately, many schools in Ghana still lack basic ICT tools, a challenge that requires the attention of various stakeholders.

Moments after the inauguration of the computer laboratory at the Gambibgo Primary School, Samuel Asante, Training Coordinator and Digital Librarian for Maxim Nyansa, while calling for the proper maintenance of the facility, says his outfit is expecting that computer engineers, programmers, artificial intelligence experts, data analysts among others to be raised for Gambibgo following the establishment of the ICT laboratory.

He described as alarming, the absence of basic ICT tools in many schools across the country as he hopes that many stakeholders will collaborate to gradually address the challenges.

“Our expectation is that they are going to be computer literates. Hopefully, we are going to get computer engineers, programmers, artificial intelligence experts, data scientists, software developers, data analysts among others. It is alarming that many schools in Ghana do not have access to computers.”

The Chief of Gambibgo, Naba Sadik Akolmolga Anon-Egra, expressed gratitude to the people of the area, the organizations and Mathem Silas Amoah for their support in diverse ways to have the structure completed with computers installed.

“I would want to thank Honourable Silas Amoah who has always been there. The young man has done great work for the people of Gambibgo. I am grateful to the PTA, Macina Foundation and Maxim Nyansa and that is why I have decided to honour for their immense support.” He stated.

While expressing delight for the establishment of the centre, the Bolga East District Director of Education, George Asira,  decried the seeming lack of discipline at the basic level which is having a heavy toll on senior high schools.
