Happy Man Foundation through its founder Dr. Emmanuel Bortey, who is also the CEO of Charger Limited, makers of Happy Man Bitters and Coffee Jin, has donated one thousand mathematical sets to BECE candidates across fifteen schools, empowering them as they prepare to face their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on June 11, 2025.
This generous gesture exemplifies Dr. Bortey and his Foundation’s unwavering commitment to education and his belief in nurturing the potential of future generations.
The beneficiary schools, representing a diverse range of communities, include Sokabisi JHS, St. John’s Catholic JHS, Anglican Junior High School – Bolga, Dorongo JHS, Sirigu JHS and Azaalonge JHS.
Others are Apassinaba JHS, Sumbrungu JHS, Atolisum JHS, Anateem JHS, Sumbrungu Kolgo JHS, Bolgatanga Preparatory JHS, Azaare English and Arabic JHS, Poologo JHS, and Yikene JHS.
This widespread support aims to alleviate the burden on students and their families, ensuring they have the necessary tools to succeed.
Anafo Edward, the Regional Manager of Charger Limited and his team, including the Public Relations Officer Mr. Alex Atanga, spearheaded the distribution efforts.
The team, accompanied by several journalists, ensured the mathematical sets reached the deserving students, capturing the smiles and gratitude on their faces. This initiative not only provides essential examination tools but also serves as a powerful message of encouragement and support, instilling confidence in the candidates as they approach this critical milestone in their education.
Dr. Bortey and the Happy Man Foundation’s commitment to education extends beyond mere donations, aiming to create a brighter future for the youth and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
The beneficiary candidates expressed gratitude to the donor and pledged to excel in the exams.
“We are thankful to the CEO (of Charger Limited) and we are assuring you that by the grace of God, with what you’ve given to us, we will make all of you proud,” a beneficiary Dimah Meshach of St. John’s JHS said.
Another beneficiary Adongo Majorie of Anglican JHS in Bolgatanga said, “I want to say a big thank you to Happy Man Foundation for giving us these mathematical sets. My colleagues and I promise to make good use of them”.
Speaking to the media after the donation, headteacher of the St. John’s JHS Theophilus Akwara said the donation came in handy and will assist the candidates especially those who could not afford such learning materials to sit the examination seamlessly.
“It is a great joy in deed because not everyone could afford it. You would find some literally borrowing from others basically those in Basic 8 or 7 just because they cannot afford to own one themselves.”
For his part, headteacher for Dorongo JHS Moses Atiiga said “I would like to extend our gratitude to Happy Man Foundation for the gesture of donating mathematical sets to help our candidates for this year. It’s a good move and I believe that it will help our students to feel happy and perform better”.
