Flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says the party has refused to give him credit for his contributions to its gains in the 5 regions of the North.

According to him, he has spearheaded campaigns in some constituencies in the 5 regions, resulting in the party’s victories in those areas.

He, however, said the party has failed to give him any recognition but is rather giving credit to some else.

Mr. Agyapong did not mention the name of the person being credited for his sweat but said he will not lead campaigns in those areas again if he doesn’t win the party’s primary.

“I campaigned for some constituency to win but they gave credit to somebody so this time, I’m quiet. I’m not going to say anything but we shall see who will come and campaign if Kennedy Agyapong doesn’t win and you attribute your success to somebody, let that person come and campaign for you,” he said in an interview on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga.

The NPP has, since 2016, been gaining grounds in the 5 regions of the North particularly in the Northern, North East and Savannah Regions.

Many have attributed the increasing fortunes of the party in those areas to the influence of Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is now contesting against Mr. Agyapong and 3 others for the flagbearer position of the NPP.

But Agyapong said he should have been credited for such gains.
