Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is causing an upset in the ongoing presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as he clinches victory in his home region, the Central Region.
Kennedy Agyapong polled 10,828 of the total valid votes cast to beat Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who trailed the MP with 6,159 votes.
Former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto followed far distant with 47 votes.
Francis Addai-Nimo placed last with 38 votes.
Prior to the election, many had tipped the Vice-President to win the presidential primary by landslide.
Provisional results, however, show he will win but with a slim margin.
