Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region, Andrew Atariwini has dismissed assertions that Member for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is not fit to be president of the country.

Mr. Agyapong, who is running for the presidential ticket of the governing party, is seen by many especially those outside the party as indiscreet and ill-mannered and thus, unfit to lead the country.

But speaking in an interview on Dreamz FM’s State of Our Nation, Andrew Atariwini argued that such views are baseless.

He said the MP has been successful in his career as a businessman and therefore, cannot be said to be unsuitable to lead the country.

The Deputy Communication Director believes that Kennedy Agyapong just like any of the presidential aspirants of the party has what it takes to steer the affairs of Ghana.

“This is a businessman who has been largely successful in his business career. He has been able to create some employment, according to him, about 7,000 people have been employed. The man currently has the biggest coal plant in the entire of Africa. The whole of West Africa, he has the biggest steal plant,” he stated.

He particularly thinks that the Assin Central MP will bring to bare his experience as a businessman in industrializing the country and creating employment opportunities for citizens if he is given the mandate to head the country.

“If you look at his argument as he goes around and the things he says, you can see that this is somebody who understands the practical approach when it comes to industrialization. He has a certain industrialist mentality and so you cannot say that such a person does not have what it takes to be president. So it is not true,” he said.
