Kongo United FC were crowned champions of the 2026 Meehiboug Youth Football Gala after defeating Pelungu FC 5–4 on penalties following a goalless draw in regular time.

Before the final, Kongo united FC were unbeaten in the tournament, while Pelungu FC had suffered only one defeat, setting the stage for a highly competitive final. Both teams played with great intensity and created chances, but neither side could find the decisive goal within regulation time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. After a marathon of spot kicks, Kongo FC emerged victorious to lift the trophy.

The third and fourth place match was contested between Zoogo FC and Sakoti FC, with Zoogo FC winning on penalties to secure third place.

Using the platform, the DCE, Francis Tobig, strongly cautioned the youth against the abuse of tramadol and other illicit drugs, stressing that drug abuse is destroying the future leaders of the district.

“I will use this platform to plead with the youth here to avoid drug intake in the district. Drugs are killing the future ministers, chiefs and DCEs our district is producing, and we must stop it now,” he said.

He further pledged to provide streetlights for the Meehiboug community and its surrounding areas to improve safety and development.
