The air in Sumbrungu crackled with electrifying energy on December 26th and 27th, 2025, as the Sumbrungu Youth and Development Association Games delivered an unforgettable spectacle of talent and community spirit. Four dynamic teams – Kulbia, Amogrebiisi, Kolgo-Agusi, and Azorobiisi – fiercely competed, showcasing their skills in a captivating “all played all” format. After two days of intense matches, Kulbia emerged as the undisputed champions with 6 points, securing a well-deserved first place. Sumbrungu Amogrebiisi battled hard for a resilient second with 5 points, followed by Kolgo-Agusi and Azorobiisi, both with 3 points.

Individual brilliance shone through, with Bonaventure Amoah earning both the prestigious Best Player and the Goal King awards, having netted a remarkable four goals. Atanbire Atanga was rightfully celebrated as the Best Goalkeeper for his heroic saves.

The prize-giving ceremony was a momentous occasion. Kulbia was gloriously presented with a magnificent trophy, a cash prize of GHC 3,500, two packs of refreshing drinks, a jersey, and a football. Sumbrungu Amogrebiisi, Azorobiisi, and Kolgo-Agusi electoral area also received generous cash prizes (GHC 2,200, GHC 2,000, and GHC 1,800 respectively), alongside two packs of drinks, a jersey, and a football each. The event was significantly boosted by the immense contributions of Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolgatanga Central, who donated jerseys and footballs to all four teams, plus  GHC 20,000. Madam Fawzia Abagnama, NDC Regional Women’s Organizer, also provided valuable jerseys and footballs for each team, coupled with a GHC 5,000 cash donation.

Mr. Albert Adongo, the Chairman of the Sumbrungu Youth and Development Association, delivered an impassioned address, urging the youth to unite for the collective development of their beloved community.

He  highlighted the completion and handover of the new police station, a tangible achievement. Chairman Adongo also passionately appealed for support to equip the local health facility near the Catholic Social Center, stressing the critical need to prevent transfers to Bolgatanga due to lack of medical equipment.

He extended heartfelt gratitude to all donors and called upon all residents of Sumbrungu to contribute to their community’s progress. The Ghana Police Service also offered crucial advice, emphasizing the importance of personal security during the festive season and cautioning against walking alone at night.
