Presidential hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kojo Bonsu believes former president, John Dramani Mahama does not stand a good of winning the party power in the 2024 Elections if he is made its presidential candidate.

Mr. Bonsu stated that the image of the former president has been soiled with allegations of his direct involvement in corruption, making him unattractive to particularly the floating voters.

The former mayor of Kumasi is convinced that the party will be aiding the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its quest to stay in office beyond 8 years if it makes Mr. Mahama its presidential candidate for the 2024 Elections.

“They have said a lot of things about him. They have put corruption tag on him. They have destroyed his image. And you can’t even taken it off and that’s  where I feel very sad. The NPP has really soiled him. He doesn’t stand a better chance,” he stated.

For the NDC recapture power from its rival, it will need a candidate with unblemished reputation to lead it into the elections, he asserted.

This, for him, is the reason delegates of the party should vote him as presidential candidate in the party’s upcoming primaries.

Mr. Bonsu pointed out that he is visionary and has the track record to help not only the party win power but also the country to attain its developmental goals.

He claimed Ghana will lose out if he is not made president of the country.

“God has given me good vision. I’m a visionary person. If you look at what I did at the national sports authority, what I did at Goil, what I did with Adidas, what have done at KMA as well, if I don’t serve Ghanaians and I die, Ghana will miss a lot because I believe I have a lot. If you check my track record, everything I touched turns gold. So why don’t I touch Ghana to see gold?”

Kojo Bonsu, who is making his first attempt at the presidency, will face off with former president, John Dramani Mahama and former Finance Minister, Kwabena Duffuor for the NDC’s presidential candidate ticket.

Although he is confident of winning the nod, Mr. Mahama is seen as favourite of the contest and is tipped to win the primaries by a landslide margin.
