The Founder of the Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (RRU4DMB), Filson Awankua is challenging electoral area coordinators in the Builsa North Constituency to ensure they work hard to secure victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Thomas Kofi Alonsi, the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
His comments come against the backdrop of the party only producing Agnes Chigabatia as the only Member of Parliament in the area in 2004.
James Agalga has since occupied the seat as the Member of Parliament for the area, a development, Mr. Awankua feels members of the NPP must work hard to change.
He says it is the responsibility of the electoral area coordinators to ensure Vice President Bawumia beats Mahama whiles Alonsi beats Agalga in the 2024 election.
He bemoaned how the current situation of having only one member of parliament from the governing New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region is not progressive.
It is therefore the hope of Mr. Awankua that members of the party will work hard to change the narrative.
“We will come to you, we will go to your electoral areas and we will campaign with you so that we make sure that Alonsi wins and then Bawumia wins. We won it before and we can do it again. We’re challenging you that we should produce Alonsi as our MP and then let Bawumia beat Mahama in Builsa North.” He said amidst loud cheers laced with the popular “it is possible” tag line.
