Dr. Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North and Aide to former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, believes the suspect behind the stabbing of a student of KNUST was among the organizing team of former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and presidential candidate hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Agyapong.

The victim was reportedly stabbed multiple times in an altercation that broke out at a rally held at Bantama as part of the 2024 flagbearer of the party Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “Thank You” tour.

He was said to be a member of a drumming group hired by Kennedy Agyapong’s team to perform at the event.

Agyapong’s team had blamed Dr. Bawumia’s camp for the incident, claiming that the victim was attacked by a bodyguard of Dr. Bawumia.

But reacting in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM, Dr. Boako denied that the perpetrator had any connection with Dr. Bawumia’s entourage, stating that Kennedy Agyapong himself had dismissed such claims when he spoke to the former Vice-President about the incident.

“Honorable Kennedy said ‘vice, I know all the security people who are following you. This guy is not part of it,” he stated.

The altercation, he said, occurred over the distribution of monies given to the drummers by Kennedy Agyapong’s team after the rally.

Dr. Boako added that he strongly believes the alleged attacker was part of the organizing team of Kennedy Agyapong, arguing that he could not have taken part in the money sharing if he were not among them.

“The incident happened where the student had moved to where their vehicles were. And they were going to board the vehicle back. Somebody gave them money. Another person amongst them took the money. So, I am certain the ‘macho’ man is part of the guys who went to mobilize the students.”

He further claimed that the perpetrator was seen in one of the vehicles that brought the students to the venue.
