Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Mahamudu Yakubu has said his main reason for becoming a politician is to positively impact the lives of people.
Mr. Stephen Yakubu believes getting involved in partisan politics is a better way of giving back to society and serving the needs of the people especially the less privileged hence, his decision to become a politician.
The regional minister, who was peaking in an interview on Dreamz FM’s State of Our Nation, asserted that politicians have what it takes to positively change the lives of people and empower them if they effectively manage the resources under their control and the power vested in them.
“I have gotten into politics because I think that with that I will be able to change people’s lives and that’s the main reason why I am into politics. Just to try and give back to society, try and change people’s lives for the better. That’s why I’m into politics.
I think politics serves as the right vehicle to impact people’s lives positively. Because in politics, you control resources and if you manage the resources well, then you will be able to impact more lives positively. Not only resources but the power which you will be able to do things to favor the poor. So I think that in politics, that’s if you do it the right way, you will be able to impact the lives of a greater number of people in the country in which you serve,” he stated.
He also revealed that he has been involved in politics since his secondary school days as it has always been his dream to contribute his quota to the development of the country and the betterment of the lives of the people.
