KENNEDY AGYAPONG - ASSIN CENTRAL MP

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has sprung a surprise in the ongoing presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), beating the contest favourite Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia even in some constituencies up in the Upper East Region.

Kennedy Agyapong won in two constituencies in the region and almost splitting the votes with Dr. Bawumia in the third constituency.

The two constituencies he won include Binduri and Zebilla Constituencies.

The MP won the Binduri  Constituency with an overwhelming majority of 294 votes as against 70 votes Dr. Bawumia polled.

In the Zebilla Constituency, Mr. Agyapong garnered 482 of the total valid votes cast to beat the Vice-President who managed just 173 votes.

The two candidates almost split the votes in Garu Constituency as Dr. Mahamudu polled 167 votes as against 164 votes the Assin Central MP obtained.

The Vice-President, however, got a substantial number of votes in the rest of the constituencies.
