Parliamentary candidate aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Mathew Silas Amoah has, through his Silas Amoah Foundation, pledged to support the organisation of the upcoming Upper East Regional GJA Awards with an amount of GH¢10,000.
The pledge was made on behalf of Mr. Amoah by the Bolgatanga East Constituency Communication Director of the NPP, Ayinbilla Abubakar Ateere at the launch of the 2nd edition of the awards.
The awards, which is organised by the regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), is geared towards recognising journalists, whose works are impacting positively on the development of the region, and to motivate them to do more.
Speaking at the launch in Bolgatanga, Regional GJA Chairman, William Jalulah said the association is taking steps to ensure that journalists in the region are well equipped and positioned to effectively contribute to development.
“As executives, we are striving to pay so much attention to our members to ensure that they have the conditions that are favourable for them to deliver satisfactorily towards the development of the region”.
He indicated that winners of this year’s awards will receive handsome prizes and urged applicants to submit competitive works for entry.
“Let me assure my colleagues who will be competing in the awards program that we will have very good and attractive packages for winners so if you wish to compete, please ensure that you take your time to read the requirements for entry.
You should do so carefully and also make sure you submit very competitive works that you have published from 1st January, 2022 to 31st December, 2022”.
Mr. Jalula also appealed to organizations and corporate institutions in the region to support the awards event.
Nominations for this year’s awards will be opened tomorrow, July 28, 2023 for journalists in the region and expected to close on August 29, 2023.
The awards event, which is slated to come off on October 6, 2023, is under the theme; Safeguarding the Peace and Security of the Upper East Region: The Role of the Media.
