Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Azumah Lambon is accusing the NPP parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga East Constituency of dolling out monies to voters in the area in an attempt to influence their votes in next year’s parliamentary elections.

Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today, Abraham Lambon alleged that Silas Amoah amassed substantial wealth through government contracts he won dubiously and is using them as a bait to win votes in the area.

“Silas Amoah got his money through contracts he won through ill means under this government. And he is now coming to use that day-in-day-out to be dashing to people because he wants power and that is how his boss (Hassan Tampuli) came into power and so he is replicating that action in Bolga East,” he stated.

He argued that the NPP parliamentary candidate had never cared about the developmental challenges in the area and thus, his recent philanthropic activities in the constituency are just a decoy by him and his party to win votes.

Abraham Lambon, however, believes he will be rejected in the Elections.

He said the people of the constituency are discerning and will not fall for Silas Amoah’s votes inducement acts.

“Very soon, he will know his level. In Upper East, we believe in loyalty, we believe genuine people, we believe in people who can do the work. We do not believe in money because if somebody uses money to buy your conscience, it is just like if you want to catch a fish, what do you do? You have to put a bait on the hook and throw into the water and so what he is doing now is trying to trap the people”.

Mathew Silas Amoah took the Bolgatanga East Constituency by storm after he indicated his intention to seek election as Member of Parliament for the area.

He has since embarked on philanthropic activities in furtherance of what he said is his quest to better the lives of the people of the constituency.

His party has high hopes of him winning the seat on its ticket and has confirmed him as its parliamentary candidate.

But those outside the party say that is a mission impossible considering the calibre of the opposition party’s candidate and its current dominance in the area.
