Rapper Soorebia has attributed his dominance in the music scenes in the Upper East Region to his consistency and hard work in churning out quality music that has endeared his brand to music lovers.
Speaking in an interview on Work Stretch on Dreamz FM, the rapper recalled his humble beginning, stating that his brand was built from scratch with support from family and friends, who made immeasurable sacrifices to make him a household name and ensure the momentum around his brand is sustained.
“It is consistency. You have to consistently be good. Since I came into music, if you have come in, you are coming to join. You cannot come and surpass. It doesn’t work like that because you are going to work with our template. All the boys (the new artistes), we inspired them,” he stated.
He said this while dismissing assertion by a section of industry players in the region that accused his team of a sinister agenda to promote him and give him undue opportunities at the detriment of other musicians.
Contrary to the accusation, Soorebia argued that he earned everything stage he has mounted and every endorsement that has come his way.
He described such accusation as undermining he and his team’s hard work and said most of those, who feel he is being unduly pushed ahead of them, have just gotten their breakthroughs and have not built strong brands and followings that would put them on a par with him.
“The problem here is that those who are not as big, don’t want to accept that they are not as big. You do one song and you are popular. You think that you and the people who have been doing songs consistently are the same, they’re the ones who are being delusional,” he stated.
“The number of hit songs over the years, those people put out, you are not in the same bracket with them. If we stand on the stage, I can hold a stage for one hour, just playing different songs. How many songs can you go? And you think that somebody will come and they have money to pay somebody and they’ll come and give you who have only three songs?”
For him, instead of engaging in unhealthy competition with him, the said artistes should concentrate on building brands that will earn them such recognition.
