Entertainers in the Upper East Region are appealing to residents to embrace and support the ‘Made in Bolga’ Festival being organised by rapper Soorebia.

Speaking on Breakfast Today, entertainment show host, Atanga Alex and Disc jockey, Akunsike Martin popularly known as DJ Aluther said the event is the region’s surest way of projecting its rich culture and arts and thus, should be supported by all.

‘Made in Bolga’ festival is the brainchild of Soorebia and his BBT crew aimed at promoting the cultural heritage and arts of the Upper East Region.

The first edition of the festival was held in April 2019 in Bolgatanga, the regional capital which saw the exhibition of local artefacts and celebration of the region’s music.

After a 3-year hiatus, the event makes a return this year. It is scheduled to take place for 2 days; starting from April 9 to 10.

The first day of the event will see the exhibition of artefacts, indigenous foods and the display of the region’s unique culture.

It will be climaxed on the second day with a concert at Jocom Golden Hotel which will see performances from the region’s music stars.

While urging people of the region to patronize the event, DJ Aluther stated that it was necessary for the region to have such an event in order to create the needed buzz around its creative arts industry and enable its growth.

“This event is not for Soorebia. Let’s get it clear. It’s for Upper East. We need to have an agenda to create certain clouds in the entertainment industry and Soorebia is championing.

We shouldn’t look at it because it’s Soorebia but we should look at it as that kind of cloud in the entertainment industry for us to also step up,” he urged.

On his part, Atanga Alex said, “Let’s bring all hands on board and support this initiative because we have tried everything, the 21st century concert and everything, it hasn’t really brought us the investment. So let’s also try the culture and see because that’s what distinguishes us among the masses. So let’s come out on the 9th and 10th”.

Soorebia, who was himself a guest on the show, urged residents to turn up with some little money to purchase products of businesses who will be taking part in the event as a way of supporting them.
