The Talensi District Education Directorate has commended the Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, Daniel Mahama, for sponsoring a mock examination for candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to the directorate, a total of 1,507 candidates are expected to sit for the examination this year, making the mock exercise a crucial step in adequately preparing students for the final assessment.
Speaking during a monitoring visit to selected schools, the District Director of Education, Christian Azure Ayinezoya, expressed her appreciation to the MP for his continuous support of the education sector in the district. She noted that such interventions help improve students’ readiness and overall performance.
The 2026 BECE is scheduled for March, and the directorate has intensified preparations to ensure candidates are well equipped ahead of the examination.
Following the successful conduct of the first mock examination sponsored by the MP, the directorate expressed hope that the Talensi District Assembly will also support the organization of a second mock exercise.
“For this year, I am overwhelmed by the support I have gotten from the Honorable Member of Parliament and in the person of Daniel Dung Mahama. He has been very supportive, and we are preparing 1507 candidates for the 2025-26 BECE, and he has been able to help us to write the first month, and so we are hoping that with the support coming from him, the Assembly may join, and then we will also write the second mock coming from the District Assembly by the guidance of the Honorable DCE, John Millim.”

Madam Ayinezoya further advised parents to reduce the workload given to candidates at home, urging them instead to provide guidance, encouragement, and sufficient time for rest and study ahead of the examination.
“I will tell them to appreciate the MP and also play their role by supporting the children. It’s not just the mock they will have to pay for; they will need certain material, writing materials, pencils to prepare. They should also give them the time to prepare. They shouldn’t overload the children with household chores.”
“Some of them will close instead of going through their work for the day, the parents will overload them with household chores, fetch water, go and look for animals, and they are not able to learn, so they should give them the time. Just from now until March, they should prepare enough to be able to write. They should have the peace of mind, feed them well and also give them the courage to write with confidence.”
