Johnson Ayine, an aspiring communications officer of the New Patriotic Party, has called for unity and stronger internal discipline among party communicators as it seeks to rebuild in opposition.

Speaking on Dreamz FM, Ayine expressed concern over public disagreements among party communicators, warning that such disputes could weaken the party and provide ammunition to political opponents, including the National Democratic Congress.

“We should not be encouraging bad press among ourselves, especially when we are in opposition,” he said.

Mr Ayine urged feuding party members to resolve their differences amicably and prioritize the broader interest of the party.

“For the sake of the party, we should forgive each other and move on,” he said.

He emphasized the need for capacity building and orientation for communicators, noting that effective political communication requires training, mentorship and discipline.

Mr Ayine also encouraged experienced communicators to support and groom new entrants, stressing that expanding the pool of skilled communicators is essential for the party’s future.

“Bring them on board, guide them, and help them grow,” he said.

He cautioned aspiring communicators against entering the field with expectations of financial gain, describing political communication as largely voluntary work.

“If you are coming in because of money or incentives, then you must forget it,” Mr Ayine said.

He added that a strong and united communication front would be critical in countering political narratives and rebuilding public confidence ahead of future elections.
