Sustainable solutions to youth unemployment in Ghana will require both stronger private sector growth and reforms in the education system, according to the chief executive officer of BC Bencyn Group.

Speaking during a radio interview on Dreamz fm with Nicholas Azebire, Benjamin Anyanah said many young graduates continue to depend heavily on government employment, a trend he believes is limiting innovation and slowing economic progress.

“They feel that unless you have a job with government, then you don’t have a job,” he said, urging authorities to focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to expand and absorb more young workers.

He also called for major reforms in the country’s education system, arguing that existing curricula place too much emphasis on theory rather than practical and entrepreneurial skills.

“The theoretical aspect of education is too much. We need problem-solving and solution-oriented learning,” he said.

According to him, aligning education with modern technological realities and industry needs would better prepare graduates for self-employment and private sector opportunities.

He added that collaboration between government, educational institutions and businesses is essential to build a workforce capable of driving economic transformation.
